Okinawa lost its symbol of the Ryukyu heritage and its citizen is disheartened by the incident. Many well wishes and encouragements, including the support for the rebuilding of the castle are coming in.

IT Innovation and Strategy Center Okinawa (ISCO) is organizing a fundraising for the recovery and reconstruction of Shuri Castle. All the proceeds from this fundraising will go to Okinawa Prefectural Government, which is responsible for the rebuilding project. The handling fees will be deducted from the proceeds of online payments such as credit card and PayPal.

We hope you join us in our mission to restore this world heritage and give us your support.

Many of the fine arts and artifacts from the Ryukyu Kingdom era were stored inside of the castle. The extent of the damage to those art pieces has not been reported yet. The assessment is expected to take time.

We would like to express our heartfelt sympathy for those affected by Shuri Castle’s fire.

A fire broke out in early morning of October 31, 2019 and large parts of Shuri Castle, including the main, north, and south buildings, were destroyed. The castle was the culmination of Okinawa’s history, architecture, art, and crafts. Out of our desire to support the effort of restoring this symbol of Okinawan culture, IT Innovation and Strategy Center (ISCO), with the cooperation of Okinawa Prefectural Government, is launching a global donation-based crowdfunding targeting international donors.

Okinawa Prefectural Government and ISCO have networks all over the world. The project is intended to broaden the scope of donation by actively promoting to those oversea networks. All the proceeds from this fundraising will go to the Okinawa Prefectural Government, which is responsible for the rebuilding project. The handling fees will be deducted from the proceeds of the online payments such as credit card and PayPal. We ask for your donations and support for Okinawa.
