The symbol of Okinawa and UNESCO’s world heritage site, Shuri Castle, was destroyed in a fire early morning of October 31, 2019. Just recently restored to its original state, the castle’s large parts were burnt down and damaged, including the main and seven other buildings.
Okinawa lost its symbol of the Ryukyu heritage and its citizen is disheartened by the incident. Many well wishes and encouragements, including the support for the rebuilding of the castle are coming in.
IT Innovation and Strategy Center Okinawa (ISCO) is organizing a fundraising for the recovery and reconstruction of Shuri Castle. All the proceeds from this fundraising will go to Okinawa Prefectural Government, which is responsible for the rebuilding project. The handling fees will be deducted from the proceeds of online payments such as credit card and PayPal.
We hope you join us in our mission to restore this world heritage and give us your support.
Many of the fine arts and artifacts from the Ryukyu Kingdom era were stored inside of the castle. The extent of the damage to those art pieces has not been reported yet. The assessment is expected to take time.
Shuri Castle was the culmination of Okinawa’s history, architecture, art, and crafts. ISCO hopes to support the effort of restoring the castle back to its highest point by ways in which only ISCO can

Ante el incendio ocurrido en el Castillo de Shuri, hemos recibido palabras de solidaridad de muchas personas del país, como del extranjero, como también ofrecimiento de apoyo en pro de la restauración del Castillo de Shuri, por lo que en nombre del pueblo de Okinawa, les hago llegar nuestro más sincero agradecimiento.
En respuesta al ofrecimiento de apoyo de todos ustedes, en cooperación con el Centro de Innovación y Estrategia de TI de Okinawa (ISCO), y en favor de la restauración del Castillo de Shuri, se ha logrado desarrollar el crowdfunding (micromecenazgo) global para facilitar la participación desde el extranjero.

As you may know that Governor Denny Tamaki is our Honorary President. It is our honor
and privilege to support Governor and Okinawa, particularly Shuri Castle restoration at this

As you will launch the 2nd Period of Global Donation-Based Crowdfunding for the Restoration
and Reconstruction of Shuri Castle, WUB Network is honor to be supporting organization
